BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A driver from B.C. was booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of drunk driving after crashing his semi truck and blocking highway nine near Nugents Corner yesterday.
Trooper Keith Leary with the Washington State Patrol says 34-year-old Harpreet Brar of Abbotsford was southbound on Highway 9 just before 2 p.m. when he lost control of the big rig and ran it off the road.
The driver was injured and treated at the scene.
The trailer, which was carrying 30,000 pounds of rubber pellets, tipped onto its side and blocked the highway.
Crews had to work through the evening to clear the wreck.
