BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A Bellingham woman apparently suffered broken bones after police say she ran out in front of a vehicle on North Samish Way.
The 29-year-old woman was struck while crossing outside of a crosswalk in the 100 block of North Samish around 11 p.m. Monday.
Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young says the vehicle didn’t have any opportunity to avoid hitting the woman.
He says police believe the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol when she decided to run into the street. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Young says the woman was at fault in the crash. She was issued a citation for failing to use a marked crosswalk.
