(Reuters) - The top-seeded Atlanta Falcons avoided a massive upset with a last-minute field goal for a nerve-jangling 30-28 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday after squandering a commanding lead.

Matt Bryant's 49-yard field goal with 13 seconds to play put the Falcons ahead a mere 21 seconds after the visiting Seahawks erased a 20-point fourth quarter deficit for their first lead of the game.

Seattle's last gasp bid to pull ahead came up short when rookie quarterback Russell Wilson's Hail Mary throw to the end zone was intercepted by Atlanta as time expired.

Atlanta will host the San Francisco 49ers on January 20 in the National Football Conference championship game with a berth in the Super Bowl on the line.
