BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- AAA says the recent refinery fire in California is causing Bellingham's rising gas prices. The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Bellingham is $4.20 this morning, the highest price of any city in the state. Jennifer Cook with AAA Washington says the west coast is sensitive to gas supply issues because 80 percent of our fuel is refined locally. Local gas prices have increased seven cents in the last week, and are up 42 cents over last month. Cook says we should start to see some relief after Labor Day as demand for gas goes down. Tropical storm Issac should have little or no impact on local gas prices.
