A measure on the November ballot will ask voters in the Lynden Regional Park and Recreation district if they want to approve a 30 year $9.5 million bond to pay for the new building.
Dave Brumbaugh with the “Committee for a New Lynden YMCA" says the former location of Delft Square in downtown Lynden is the most cost effective site for a new YMCA.
He says the current YMCA building is also badly deteriorating. But Lynden Y member Anne Culbertson says the current building is in a perfect location, and she doesn't like the idea of forcing property owners to pay the bill.
There will be a presentation about the proposed bond issue, followed by a question and answer period, at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lynden Community Center on Grover Street.
