Governor Issues Statewide Burn Ban

OLYMPIA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Governor Christine Gregoire issues an emergency proclamation that establishes a ban on outdoor burning for the entire state of Washington.

The governor says Washington's extended period of warm, dry weather has increased the fire danger across the state.

Washington has experienced no appreciable amount of rain since July 23, and there's no rain forecast until the end of this week.

The burn ban, which is in effect through October 15th, prohibits all outdoor burning, including campfires, bonfires, fireworks, residential yard debris clean-up, trash disposal, land clearing, weed abatement and agricultural burning.
