SEATTLE, Wash. (Metro) -- A lawsuit over an incident in which Seattle police officers were caught on video stomping on a Latino man and one officer was heard using a racial slur against him, is settled for 150-thousand dollars.
The lawsuit against the Seattle Police Department, Detective Shandy Cobane, and Officer Mary Woollum claimed excessive force and unlawful discrimination.
After the video of the April 2010 incident was released, Cobane apologized for his actions against 21-year-old Martin Monetti, Jr., who filed the lawsuit which sought 750-thousand dollars in damages.
The settlement was reached after a federal judge ruled the lawsuit could proceed to trial.
