Local Man Dies From Push Off 2nd-Story Balcony

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A Bellingham man has died after an altercation in which he went crashing through a railing of an apartment building.

Police spokesman Rick Sucee says investigators received word Wednesday afternoon that the condition of the victim, identified as 38-year-old James Lacey, had worsened at St. Joseph Hospital.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital later that night.

Sucee says Lacey and a neighbor, 28-year-old Daniel Savage, got into an altercation on the second floor balcony of the apartment complex in the 2800 block of West Maplewood.

Police say Savage pushed Lacey who crashed through the railing and fell to the ground below.

No charges have been filed and police say the investigation is on-going.
