LUMMI NATION, Wash. -- The Lummi Nation is one of seven reservations to share in more than $8.5 million in federal grant money to build and modernize affordable housing and prevent crime.
The Lummi Housing Authority will receive just under $3 million while the Nooksack tribe will get about $650,000.
Vice Chair of the Lummi Indian Business Council Candace Wilson says the funds will be put to good use.
The grants are available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Indian Housing Block grant program.
