Investigators say the 34-year-old died over night from his injuries.
So far they’re not releasing his identity.
Bellingham Police Sergeant Ken Brown says the man remains in critical condition after he placed his head in front of the northbound train.
Brown says he was trespassing on railroad property north of Boulevard Park as it approached and he waved at the train’s engineer before stepping in front of the oncoming engine.
The impact pushed him to the side of the tracks and left him with severe head injuries.
