CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Metro) -- Washington's senior U.S. senator, Patty Murray takes front and center at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, telling delegates that the GOP presidential ticket would "sell out" America's middle class while preserving tax cuts for the wealthy.
Murray told the crowd at Time-Warner Cable Arena of her family's struggles when she was growing up, and said without the benefit of students loans and other assistance, she and her siblings would never have had a chance at earning a college degree.
The senator says electing President Barack Obama for another term would help make sure every American family has the opportunities hers did.
