Nordstrom Officials Support Gay Marriage

SEATTLE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Nordstrom has jumped into the gay marriage fray.

In a companywide memo, Nordstrom president Blake Nordstrom writes the luxury retailer has always offered a workplace where "every employee is welcomed and respected."

The memo goes on to say the company supports "freedom to marry, also called marriage equality," with Blake Nordstrom saying he and his family felt the time was right to come out "in support of this civil rights issue."

The Seattle based company recently joined other corporations like Starbucks and Amazon in supporting Referendum 74, which would legalize same-sex marriage in Washington state.

More and more companies are making their feelings on the issue known to the public.

Earlier this year, Chick-fil-A's president caused an uproar when he publicly voiced opposition to gay marriage.
