Parts Of “Obamacare” Go Into Effect This Week

WASHINGTON D.C. -- One of the early reforms of the Affordable Care act, or "Obamacare," starts this week that will affect everyone you know who has health insurance or is considering buying it.

All health insurance plans are now required to provide customers with an easy to read summary of benefits to help them understand what services are covered in the plan and how much it will cost.

Stephanie Marquis with the state Insurance Commissioner's Office says the new summary of benefits for will provide answers to questions such as the overall deductible, if there's an out of pocket expense, or if you need a referral to see a specialist.

The summary will also include a list of commonly-used health coverage and medical terms.
