NEW YORK (Reuters) - Buster Posey was named on Thursday as the National League's Most Valuable Player for the 2012 Major League Baseball season.

The 25-year-old San Francisco Giants catcher won the award after a stellar season in which he won the batting title and led the Giants to the World Series.
