Report: Church To Picket Funerals Of Powell Children

TACOMA, Wash. (Metro Networks Inc.)  -- The controversial Westboro Baptist Church is planning to picket funerals for two little boys who died in a Washington state house explosion.

Josh Powell is believed to have set off the blast last weekend that killed him and his sons Charlie and Braden Powell.

The five- and seven-year-old boys were the subject of a bitter custody fight.

The Tacoma "News Tribune" reports the anti-gay church says it is mounting the protest to send a signal about recent approval of gay marriage in Washington.

Occupy Seattle protestors have signalled that they will put on a counter-protest at the Saturday service.

The Occupy demonstrators say they will try to protect the funeral from "Westboro's abhorrent message" but have no intention of disrupting the proceedings.
