WASHINGTON STATE -- Weather officials are warning of extremely high avalanche danger in the northern Cascades due to rare weather patterns in the area.
The Northwest Weather and Avalanche center has issued an “extreme” avalanche warning for altitudes above 4000 ft.
Gwyn Hyatt, operations manager of the mount baker ski area, says that’s the highest warning that exists…
The warning comes in the wake of several avalanche deaths at Stevens Pass and Alpental over the weekend.
Meanwhile, officials have also issued a flood watch for all of western Washington through Thursday.
