Shellfish Harvest Resumes In Samish Bay

BOW, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Samish Bay is open for shellfish harvesting again.

Gopskagit.com reports the shellfish beds were re-opened yesterday by the state Department of Health.

They were closed earlier this month when high water levels and unsatisfactory levels of fecal bacteria were detected in water samples.

That closure was the most recent of more than eight bay closures since March 1, and was attributed to runoff from unusually high spring rainfall.
