Steve Dillon with the Whatcom County Public Works Department says the repairs are progressing well, but the recent rain has completely halted work on the bridge.
He says the work is very weather dependent and can not be done in rain heavier than a mist.
The contractor doing the repairs expects about seven full days of work before the bridge can be opened to traffic.
The bridge has been closed since December 1 when a truck hauling an over-height load struck and severely damaged the bridge.
Until the bridge is open, drivers should continue to use the detour route through Ferndale.
