BLAINE, Wash. -- The left lane of northbound Interstate 5 will be closed for an extended period of time after a semi rolled just north of the Custer Rest Area.
The lane closure stretches for about a half-mile near Portal Place Drive.
The semi rolled just after 1 a.m. when the driver says he swerved to avoid hitting a deer.
There were no major injuries.
Tow trucks began trying to tip the truck back over early this morning when the sides of the trailer broke off dumping cargo onto the road.
The cargo is now contained to the median and a tow company is working to clear it.
