OLYMPIA, Wash. – Another 38,000 people in Washington will be cut off if Congress doesn’t renew extended unemployment benefits.
In a speech on the Senate floor, Senator Patty Murray said 2014 will be a tough year for the long-term unemployed.
A bill extending those benefits advanced in the Senate yesterday, but its prospects in the Republican controlled House aren’t as good.
Fifth District Representative Cathy McMorris-Rodgers says there are other ways Congress can help out-of-work Americans.
About 25,000 thousand people in Washington State already lost extended benefits on December 28.
