BELLINGHAM, Wash. – First Baptist Church in downtown Bellingham is celebrating 130 years this month.
First Baptist Church is the oldest, continuously operating church in the area.
Pastor Jeff Flint says the church has always strived to help people in need in its own backyard.
The church got a recent facelift with improvements to the building including new bathrooms, an expanded learning center and upgrades to its audio and video equipment.
First Baptist Church hosts a free meal with Loaves and Fishes local ministry on Tuesday nights and pairs with the Lighthouse Mission and Interfaith Coalition in serving the poor.
First Baptist Church has been in Bellingham since July, 1883.
