Bellingham woman sentenced for role in drug ring

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham woman will serve a nine year sentence for her role in a Whatcom County meth and heroin distribution ring.

Prosecuting Attorney Jill Otake says 37-year-old Rosie Castaneda and several others helped run the drug trafficking organization.

Otake says they argued for Castaneda to serve more than the mandatory five years because she already had multiple chances to “clean up her act” and didn’t.

She will serve the full nine years in prison with no parole, followed by four years of probation.

Ring leader Todd Hamilton and two others will be sentenced in July.
