BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Western Washington University’s Stephanie Bluhm (Sr., Auburn/Auburn Mountainview) and Maeghan Callegari (So., Kirkland/Lake Washington), the Vikings’ varsity eight stroke and coxswain, respectively, were named first-team Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division II Pocock All-Americans on Tuesday, May 28.
The twosome will play key roles in WWU’s bid to win an eighth national title this weekend at the 12th Annual NCAA II National Championships being held at Eagle Creek Park near Indianapolis, Ind.
The trip to nationals is the third straight for Bluhm, all of them in the varsity eight, and the second for Callegari, who was seated in the varsity four last year. Bluhm, the team captain and a Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference all-star, rowed on the Vikings’ national championship team in 2011.
The varsity eight, with Bluhm and Callegari, had gold-medal winning performances this spring at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship and the NCRC Championship regattas.
It is the 12th straight year that WWU has had a rower or rowers named to the CRCA All-American team.
