MOUNT BAKER, Wash. –The Boy Scouts of America‚Äôs National Council voted yesterday to lift the ban and allow openly gay boys to become boy scouts.

Because Boy Scouts of America does not own or run local chapters, each local troop still has the right to decide who they will admit as a boy scout.

Openly gay adults are still banned from being scout leaders or volunteers.
