Bragg and Woodworth named GNAC pre-season conference all-stars

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Two Western Washington University seniors, guard Richard Woodworth (Bellevue/Newport) and center Austin Bragg (Longview/Mark Morris), have been named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Pre-Season All-Star team announced Thursday, Oct. 17.

Woodworth, who finished third overall in the balloting, earned second- team honors and was named the West Regional Most Outstanding Player a year ago, averaging 11.1 points and ranking second on the team in assists (117).  Two years ago, he earned Elite Eight all-tournament honors in leading the Vikings to the NCAA Division II national title.

 

Bragg was a 2012-13 GNAC honorable mention pick, averaging 9.1 points and leading WWU in rebounds (7.3) and blocks (43).

 

WWU, which has won a school-record 31 games in each of the last two campaigns and is ranked No.9 in The Sporting News 2013-14 Preseason Poll, opens its regular season on Friday, Nov. 15 (7 p.m.), against Notre Dame de Namur at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.
