Bridge Collapse may have economic silver lining

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – More Canadians may spend their money in Whatcom County over the next few months.

Bellingham/Whatcom County Tourism’s
CEO Loni Rahm says both Whatcom and Skagit County may benefit from the Skagit River bridge collapse.

Tourists and shoppers who normally pass by Whatcom and Skagit County to shop in the Seattle area might decide to stick around and stay north of the bridge.

Rahm says Skagit County businesses may also get a boost from people being exposed to local shops and restaurants on the detours.
