NEWPORT, Wash. – The Christmas tree that will adorn the White House this season is coming from Pend Oreille County, Washington.
The 88 foot Engelmann spruce will be cut down Friday in Newport and be transported to the nation’s capital by November 8.
About 5,000 ornaments made by hand by people from across Washington state will decorate the tree after it arrives at the White House.
A tree from the Olympic National Forest was chosen as the Capitol Christmas Tree in 2006.
