SEATTLE. Wash. – A company whose frozen berries have been linked to an outbreak of hepatitis A is being sued.
The class-action lawsuit was filed in Seattle against Fairview, Oregon-based Townsend Farms, whose Organic Anti-Oxidant Blend frozen berry and pomegranate seed mix has been identified as the source of the outbreak in several states.
The suit was filed on behalf of plaintiff Jay Seward of Port Ludlow, Washington, and all other Washington state residents who received hepatitis A vaccination or immune globulin injections after eating the Townsend Farms frozen berry blend.
The suit seeks compensation for the cost of receiving the shots and for time missed from work or other expenses incurred due to exposure to the virus.
