KGMI News Reporting
By Karen Taylor

SEATTLE, Wash. – A man fell to his death during a climb on Forbidden Peak in North Cascades National Park over the weekend.

Rangers say Tyler Barton of Seattle had just summited the 8,800 foot mountain with his climbing partner Saturday evening and started to rappel back down when a falling rock hit him.

The rock caused Barton to fall 300 feet.

Rangers recovered Barton’s body on Sunday with the help of a contract helicopter.

His climbing partner did not suffer any injuries.
