WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Whatcom County saw more home sales this summer than last summer.

People in the county sold 718 homes in the third quarter ending September 30.

That is up nearly 21 percent over last year according to Lylene Johnson of the Muljat Group, who analyzed data from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service.

She says the median price of homes sold was up nearly 5 percent over last summer.

Bellingham saw an increase of more than 24 percent while Blaine and Birch Bay home sales jumped nearly 39 percent.

That offset the double-digit declines in Lynden and the Nooksack Valley.

Bellingham is also seeing a higher percentage of homes sold in the $300,000 to $500,000 price range compared to 2012.
