FERNDALE, Wash. – The public will be able to comment on the $100 million Whatcom County Jail proposal tonight.
The jail would be built on 40 undeveloped acres just south of Ferndale and could house up to 500 inmates.
Ferndale City Council member John Mutchler says while the jail would be built within the city limits, the decision to build it is not up to them.
People will be allowed to comment on the environmental and traffic impact studies for the jail. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. tonight in the Ferndale City Council chambers.
