BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Whatcom County unemployment rate stayed relatively flat last month, but local job growth continues to outpace the rest of the state.
The jobless rate went up about one-tenth of a percent.
Annelise Vance-Sherman with the Employment Security Department says Whatcom County is doing rather well at adding jobs.
Vance-Sherman says local hiring is up and people are gaining more confidence as they look for jobs.
She says the federal government shutdown in October did not have any noticeable impact on local unemployment numbers.
