OLYMPIA, Wash – The state Legislature has until tonight to resolve a legal issue with Washington’s estate-tax law.
According to “The Olympian,” as many as ten refund checks worth more than $13 million will be mailed tomorrow morning because of a Washington State Supreme Court ruling that struck down the estate tax as it applies to married couples who establish certain property trusts.
The state will be required to inform a judge tomorrow whether the refunds have been mailed or if there’s been a change in the estate-tax law.
