Domestic Violence Awareness Month hits home

KGMI News Reporting
By Crystal King

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and a 50 member community panel would like everyone to take the time to read their new report “It Happened In Our Town”.

The Whatcom County Commission Against Domestic Violence has identified more than 75 recommendations to improve the community’s response to domestic violence.

Commission Director, Susan Marks hopes that everyone in the community will find at least one recommendation that applies to them and implement it in their own lives.

As a way to be a part of the solution, the public is invited to attend an event, “Remember, Celebrate, Connect” tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the Mount Baker Theatre.
