MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol is looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer rig that’s believed to have traveled along the I-5 Skagit River bridge just before the structure collapsed last month.
Videos show the semi passing to the left of the truck carrying an oversize load that struck several overhead beams, causing a section of the span to fall into the river.
Trooper Mark Francis says investigators want to get the driver’s account of what took place at the time of the collapse.
Francis says the trailer is white, but there’s very little to go on otherwise concerning the description of the rig.
