BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham environmental group has filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission over the so called “Sustainable Forests Initiative” green seal.
Forest Ethics spokesperson, Aaron Sanger says this seal is a creation of lumber companies trying to take advantage of the high demand for ‘green’ products.
Forest Ethics wants companies to drop the SFI label and switch to a label from an independent organization that isn’t backed by the lumber industry.
Marketing firm ‘Advertising Age’ estimates Americans spent more than $40-billion last year on environmentally-friendly products.
