FERNDALE, Wash.- A Ferndale veterinarian is on probation for three years for hurting animals and botching surgeries at his practice.

The state Veterinary Board of Governors began investigating Peter Rule of Glacierview Animal Hospital last year after former employees reported him for professional misconduct.

Rule signed a formal order admitting to most of the accusations.

In addition to being on probation he’ll pay a $6,000 fine, undergo a substance abuse assessment and complete continuing education.

He will be able to keep his license if he meets all the requirements of his probation.
