WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – People who want to run for some of Whatcom County’s less popular elected offices have one last chance to file.

The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office is holding a special filing period through Thursday for offices that didn’t get any candidates during filing week.

Auditor Debbie Adelstein says commissioner seats are open on several fire, water and cemetery districts and one park district in the county.

She says the only qualification is that you have to live within the district you are filing for.

Candidates can file no later than 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Auditor’s office or online at http://whatcomcounty.us/auditor under “Current Issues.”
