Fire chief: Orcas Island fires called suspicious

AP News

OLGA, Wash. –  Orcas Island’s fire chief is calling a couple of recent fires suspicious.

There have been two house fires and a fire at a well-known art gallery in the small town of Olga.

The two most recent fires broke out within a half-hour of one another last Friday.

The first tore through the roof of Olga Artworks, the second gutted a home less than two miles away.

Chief Kevin O’Brien of Orcas Island Fire and Rescue says he’s calling those fires suspicious.

No one was hurt.

Investigators are trying to determine whether a suspicious house fire in June might be related.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s office says it’s investigating break-ins in the area.
