KGMI News Reporting

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Bellingham Fire Department is asking people to please stop calling 911 about a sulfur smell near the shoreline.

The department has investigated and determined the smell is from organic decomposition during low tide and it is not a hazard.

Battalion Chief Andy Day says they received numerous 911 calls Thursday.

He asks that people refrain from calling 911 unless they believe they are having an actual natural gas emergency.
