BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Residents of an apartment in the 3400 block of Alderwood Avenue are receiving temporary housing from the Red Cross after their unit was damaged by a fire last night.
Both Whatcom County and Bellingham Fire departments responded to the fire just after 10:00 p.m.
Fire officials say the fire appears to have started outside the apartment complex.
When crews arrived, the fire had already burned through the wall of two of the apartments.
Crews were able to quickly knock the fire down and keep it from reaching into the other eight units in the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
