SAN JUAN ISLAND, Wash. – It’s a race against the clock to get oil out of a half-sunken yacht at the Roche Harbor Marina on San Juan Island.
Firefighters responded to a fire on the boat yesterday afternoon.
Department of Ecology spokesperson Dustin Terpening says the marina has put emergency booms around the 85-foot yacht as a precaution.
No oil has been found in the water.
An on-scene spill-response contractor is standing by if any cleanup is needed.
The cause of the boat fire is still unknown.
