Flu season returns with Fall

WHATCOM COUNTY, wash. – Flu season is almost here and it’s a perfect time to get vaccinated.

Doctor Greg Stern with the Whatcom County Health Department says while flu strains are unpredictable each year, but they are able to monitor the flu seasons in other regions as they create the next vaccine.

Stern says the flu shot helps protect people against three or four common strains.

This year’s flu shot is already carried by many local doctors and pharmacies.

It is especially recommended for young children, pregnant women and the elderly.
