BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A 14-year-old boy suspected of drinking and driving was taken into custody after a short car chase ended with a crash in Cordata Neighborhood early Wednesday morning.
According to Washington State Patrol spokesperson Keith Leary, the boy was driving a car south on Guide Meridian at 6:40 a.m. when a trooper noticed that the vehicle was weaving and going 20 mph under the speed limit.
When the trooper turned on his lights, the car sped up and turned into the Larkin Place apartment complex where the boy crashed into four cars.
Also in the car were two 12-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 53-year-old man.
All but one 12-year-old was extremely intoxicated.
The incident is still under investigation. More charges are possible.
