EDMONDS, Wash. – It’s now a civil violation to allow cats to roam free in the city of Edmonds.
The City Council has voted to include domesticated cats among animals that are not allowed to roam free.
Supporters say allowing cats to freely roam about invites health hazards, such as the spread of disease passed along from other cats and rodents.
Opponents say cats have different social needs than dogs and shouldn’t be confined.
