Free services and hand-up for homeless

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Homeless people will be able to get free healthcare and other services this Friday.

The annual ‘Project Homeless Connect’ will be at Bellingham High School from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Whatcom Volunteer Center Director Dan Hammill says the Whatcom Transit Authority will help people get to the event.

Hammill says with the help of the Bellingham School District and United Way, they are able to help hundreds of people struggling with homelessness.

More than 50 service providers will offer free medical and dental care, women’s health services, housing information, veterans assistance, haircuts and a catered lunch.
