Generous gift starts new entrepreneurship program at Western

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Alum and retired Microsoft executive David Cole has donated a half-million dollars to Western Washington University to start a brand new entrepreneurship program.

Brian Burton, Dean of the College of Business and Economics, says the money will go toward hiring a tenure-track professor and starting a minor program:

Cole graduated from Western in 1984.

He worked at Microsoft for more than 20 years, and rose up the ranks becoming Vice President.

The David Cole Professor of Entrepreneurship will be hired soon and likely start at Western next fall.
