ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The University of Alaska Anchorage has hired a new athletic director.
Vice Chancellor Bill Spindle announced Wednesday the university has hired Keith Hackett, who has worked for nine years as senior associate athletic director for internal affairs at the University of Nevada.
Spindle replaces Steve Cobb, who was fired in May following questions over the university’s handling of a 2011 incident in which a former hockey coach struck a player with a hockey stick during a practice.
UAA says in its announcement that Hackett has 36 years of higher education experience.
Hackett will be in Anchorage on Sept. 20 for an introductory press conference.
