Grocery workers authorize strike

Thousands of grocery store workers across western Washington have voted to authorize a strike.

Ninety eight percent of workers voted in favor of a strike after the United Food and Commercial Workers union turned down the latest offer from representatives of Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertsons and QFC stores.

Union negotiators say they’ll try to reach an agreement one more time before picketing begins, possibly as soon as Sunday.
