FRESNO, Calif. - Point guard Jenni White (Jr., Spokane/East Valley) scored a team-high 18points, dished out five assists and had three steals, but Western Washington University saw a second-half lead slip away in a 77-68 overtime loss to Humboldt State University in final-day action Saturday at the West Region Crossover Classic held at the FPU Events Center.
The Vikings, ranked No.6 in the USA Today/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II Top 25, had their record evened at 1-1. They also got 10 points each from forward Kiana Gandy (R-Fr., Des Moines/Mount Rainier) and guard Taylor Peacocke(Fr., Kenmore/Inglemoor).
Humboldt State,1-1, was led by the game highs of 23 points and seven assists of Kersey Wilcox. Jae Shin scored 15 points, all in the first half, and Megan Shields and Elle Anderson each had 10.
WWU next competes in the West Region Crossover Classic at Azusa, Calif., facing host Azusa Pacific on Friday, Nov. 22 (5:30 p.m.).
